Death on the Devil´s Teeth: The Strange Murder That Shocked Suburban New Jersey

When I read about Death on the Devil´s Teeth, it was said to have the same similarity with Satanic Panic as the West Memphis Three case, so I bought the book without any second thoughts. And today, I want to reveal my thinking about the book so grab a coffee or whatever you like; lean back and join me on this journey.

Death on the Devil´s Teeth: The Strange Murder That Shocked Suburban New Jersey

As mentioned earlier in this post, this book came to my attention as it was said to have similarities to The West Memphis Three murder case. Therefore I bought Death on the Devil´s Teeth: The Strange Murder That Shocked Suburban New Jersey. Later I figured out that both authors are into the paranormal well; I can´t blame them as I´m myself; however, I wanted an actual crime book and not a supernatural book. When this is said, Pollack and Moran managed to respect the victims and their families and make this a book about an actual crime.

Pros and cons

Pros

Satanic Panic in New Jersey or as the book is titled Death on the Devil´s Teeth is a well-written book with information about the gruesome finding of the then sixteen-year-old Jeannette DePalma.  Allegedly Jeannette was found with odd objects surrounding her. While reading the book, nothing indicated that the authors were into the paranormal in any shape or form.

Mr. Pollack and Mr. Moran have managed to keep their interest in the paranormal out to their writing. I think the authors give us, as readers, a good backstory of sixteen-year-old Jeannette DePalma.

Death on the Devil´s Teeth describes the finding of Jeannette DePalma’s body, and they try to draw similarities to other strange killings that might have a connection to Jeannette’s murder. Thereby we get the opportunity to learn about other unsolved cases that might pique our interest.

Cons

I found Death on the Devil´s Teeth: The Strange Murder That Shocked Suburban New Jersey an interesting read; however, at some spots, the authors lost me a bit on the way as they jumped to other cases taking a deep dive into some of those other unsolved cases. From time to time, this made me forget I was reading a book about the strange murder of Jeannette DePalma. And when I found myself getting interested in a case, they mentioned they suddenly jumped to another unsolved murder case.

Satanic Panic is the only similarity I see between the West Memphis three case and Death on the Devil´s Teeth.

Pictures

Like many of you and I, true-crime aficionados/fans, want to know if a book contains images. In Death on the Devil´s Teeth: The Strange Murder That Shocked Suburban New Jersey, the authors Jesse Pollack and Mark Moran provide us with photographs. It´s been a little while since I read the book, but I have made no notes on graphic pictures.

Graphic content

Some readers of actual crime events do not like graphic content in any shape or form may it be pictures or in describing a murder case. Therefore please note if you’re faint at heart, this book might not be a read for you as Pollack and Moran tell graphic details about some of the murders they take us through.

Overall summary of Death on the Devils Teeth

When I look at the book Death on the Devil´s Teeth, I find it well written; however, it is a bit dry, and the wording is a bit dull for my taste.

The research is well done in Jannette DePalma’s case and the other issues the authors take us through.

Overall, Death on the Devil´s Teeth: The Strange Murder That Shocked Suburban New Jersey is an interesting read.
